UDAAN is the main activity center of a charitable trust: Foundation for Spastic and Mentally Handicapped Persons. It was registered as  Trust in April 1994, and with the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India in March 2000. It is running at C-27-28 Dayanand Colony, Lajpatnagar - 4, New Delhi 110024, INDIA.

We help and guide parents/guardians of children with CP, MR or Autism regarding diagnosis and evaluation of brain-related disabilities, home management, selection of special schools. Our guidance includes trying to improve the quality of life of disabled children wherever we can. The current student strength is 46 in the morning section and 20 in the afternoon section.

The progress at UDAAN could not have been possible without the unstinted support and cooperation of our "family" of therapists and helpers. Here are some of them (November 2002):

UDAAN center is the fruit of love that the of the Foundation for Spastic and Mentally Handicapped Persons (FSMHP) of 61 Deshbandhu Apartments, Kalkaji, New Delhi, India, have for children with cerebral palsy, mental retardation or autism.

The aim of UDAAN is to set free the spirit of freedom inherent in every disabled child. You can be a part of the effort by helping FSMHP with donations to carry on the spirit.

We have pioneering the concept of UDAAN Early Medical Intervention Multimode Therapy in very small children with CP, to try to salvage as much of the damaged brain and neuromuscular function as possible. Our results were discussed at the 3rd International Symposium on Cerebral Palsy and the Brain Injured Child, held at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from 17-19 July, 2003, and highly appreciated. We were re-invited to present our updated paper at the 4th International Symposium on Cerebral Palsy and the Brain Injured Child, held at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in July, 2004. We presented our statistically analyzed data on 20 small CP children given only standard Therapy versus 39 given HBOT 40 sessions during the initial 2 months, followed from the 5th month by Acupuncture and Unani (Ayurvedic) herbal Neuro-restorative supplements, supported by serial video shots.

As a follow up, M/s. Oxy Health Corporation of LA, USA have gifted to us a Portable Hyperbaric Chamber to carry on our research at more affordable rates to bring its benefits to many more children of lower economic strata.

Donations to "FSMHP" by crossed cheque/bank draft are granted Income Tax exemption under section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
