Why this conference?

We invite you to join UDAAN for the Differently Abled, for our forthcoming 1st International Conference on Neural Repair & Neuro Rehabilitation -NR2CON. : September 15th - 17th at Dogra Auditorium, IIT Delhi.

In simple terms, it brings together specialists from multiple branches of Medicine and Rehabilitation Therapy, to discuss how best we can repair and reprogram the brain in persons with Brain Damage (Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Handicap, Stroke, etc., which affects more than 1% of India's 1.5 billion population - 1.5 crores directly affected Indians).

In India Brain once damaged is generally considered irreversibly damaged.

However, a series of newer devices, technologies, techniques, assistive devices, implants, biofeedback techniques, computer-assisted methodologies, besides very specific Neuro-Rehabilitation techniques, are re-writing the history of management of brain-damaged patients.

The aim of NR2Con. is to usher in a new era of repair, regeneration & reprogramming of the damaged brain to the extent medically possible, so that many such patients and their innocent families can return to a life of dignity with social and economic independence.

This conference will feature nearly 30 of the foremost International & Indian authorities in such techniques of Brain Repair.

This is one of India's 1st International Level Multi-Specialty Conference on Brain Damage Repair, Reprogramming and Neuro-Rehabilitation.

Though causes may differ, the ultimate basic pathology in brain damage often involves toxic effects, inflammatory edema and ischemia. These basic defects are amenable to a variable degree using a variety of medical interventions. Some of them are still classified as "Experimental" because competent authorities who can make use of them and convert them to established therapy, don't, as they do not have the requisite know-how or the Holistic team to do it.

There are. however, a select group pf experts worldwide who, braving all odds, are working with these techniques,  with promising results.

The time to attempt Neural Repair in Neuro Rehabilitation has come.

Cerebral Palsy: Situation

Cerebral Palsy is considered a NON-PROGRESSIVE Motor Disability, hence affected children are advised Standard Therapy by its various names, to preserve and protect what functionality remains in the motor areas, with no attempt at neural repair. The use of HBOT, Acupuncture, Neuroplasticity and surgical corrections has significantly improved the prognosis.

Autism Spectrum Disorder: Situation

ASD cases in US showed a 600% rise after 1990. That was when use of vaccines with Thimerosal preservative (22 shots within 2 years) became compulsory. Authorities blamed it on enhanced diagnostic ability. However, the withdrawal of Thimerosal from vaccines by 2002 lead to a statistically significant downtrend in ASD cases that is hard to explain. This lead the way to medical interventions in Autism, using chelation, MB12 and mHBOT.

The latest UK statistics (July 2007) following a selected community assessment by four competent authorities showed an incidence of ASD in 1 in 58 boys  *http://www.waterford-news.ie/news/story.asp?j=26196&cat=news

The US Government signed into bill the Combat Autism Bill in December 2006, authorizing a mind-boggling amount for research on autism, its prevention and medical management, because, as one Representative put it, the incidence of autism this year is likely to exceed the incidence of AIDS, Diabetes and Cancer combined.

Trends at Neural Repair and Neuro Rehabilitation

The successful use many revolutionary medical interventions for Neural Repair and Neuro Rehabilitation, especially in CP, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Mitochondrial Syndrome, adult stroke, brain injury, etc.. is increasing in developed countries. Here, these newer methodologies are yet to take off in a significant way, with the exception of some interventions in CP (by UDAAN, surgical / invasive procedures at a few centers, etc.

However, the world HAS MADE significant strides in the field of Neuro-Rehabilitation, though full knowledge about their usage, efficacy and availability has not been fully highlighted in India.
